2008-04 Belize
Emmy and I took our first real vacation together at the end of April and beginning of May, 2008. We spent just over two days in the jungle just outside of San Ignacio, Belize, near the Guatemala border. We took a trip to Barton Creek, where we explored a limestone cave in a canoe. On the way back to our lodge, we stopped in at a butterfly farm. We also went horseback riding and tubing down the Macal river. We then went to Caye Caulker after stopping at the Belize zoo on the way. We spent three and a half days on Caye Caulker, which is a small island just south of Ambergris Caye just a few miles off the coast and very close to the barrier reef. While there, we went snorkeling with stingrays (among other things) and made our best attempt to "Go Slow" (the island's motto). It was, by most measures, the best week of my life to date.
